Do sexual desire and the need for intimacy decline with age? Do the elderly still have sex? My interest into whether or not sexual desire declines with age is because as a middle-aged woman, I have a healthy curiosity about my sexual outlook for the future. I am not yet married and I would hate to believe that sex dies after forty. Our society would lead one to believe that women over the age of forty are less desirable and therefore are less likely to engage in regular sexual activity. Society pictures older women as settled, grandmothers, and victims of gravity grasping at Botox and implants just to be considered slightly appealing to the opposite sex. As for male counterparts, they are overrun with ads to purchase Viagra, Rograine, and join a gym. As one of the now middle-aged, I don't feel any less sexual desire. Does growing older necessarily mean no more sex?
