The Effects of Feminism
The effects of the feminist movement range from Title IX to the landmark case of Roe vs. Wade. In December of 1972, Eisenstadt v. Baird and Title IX represented two major steps in favor of the feminist movement. Eisenstadt v. Baird gave women the right to use contraceptives in relationships outside of a marriage. The most important occurrence was the passing of the Education Amendment of 1972, which included Title IX. (Imbornoni) Although the initial feminist movement drafted Title IX in hopes of creating equality and community among the genders, the results are not quite what they hoped for.
Title IX states that all high schools and colleges must have an equal amount of women in athletics according to the ratio of women enrolled. If half of the student body is female, then half of the athletes must be female...
