The identity of Jesus Christ as described in The Bible has long intrigued scholars.
History relates that a man named Jesus of Nazareth was crucified by Roman authority
almost two thousand years ago. However, nearly all other information on Jesus is found
in the Christian Foundational Writings known as the Four Gospels. Scholars have long
debated the identity of the writers of these four gospels, named Matthew, Mark, Luke,
and John (after the traditional authors), in addition to the truthfulness or accuracy of their
accounts. ... Thomas Cahill, in his book Desire of the Everlasting Hills, comments
on the descriptions of Jesus found in the Gospels and in the writings of Paul, examining
the differences and the continuity of their portrait of Jesus.
