Child Pornography: How big a problem is it?
In Mount Vernon, Ill. A 13 year old runaway walked into a police station and told the officers that she had posed nude in an apartment down the street. Police were shocked when they walked into the apartment and found numerous computers and CD's in the apartment that all held child pornography. Six men were charged with possession of child pornography and authorities say more charges are likely. When police started investigating, they found out that the ring involved a middle school basketball coach, and a staff member at a boarding school for the mentally disabled, although authorities say that it doesn't appear that any of the children from the school's of the coach or the faculty member were involved. The adults would invite runaways and troubled teens to parties and coerce them into having sex with drugs or alcohol and film it, and then they would sell it on the internet for a profit. The two men who were in charge are in jail under 1.5 million dollar bond and face up to fifteen years in prison if convicted of aggravated criminal sexual assault, and child pornography. This is just one example of many victories the Criminal Justice system
