"The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock" by T.S. Eliot is anything but what the title leads you to believe. It is ironic that this is not a love song, but it is the inner dialogue of a man who is looking back into his own loveless life and examining the decisions that he has or has not made. Even though he would like to change the direction of his life, his indecisiveness keeps him on his current path. The poem itself is written in a fragmented style, reflecting the speaker's fragmentation from the society that is all around him.
