The movie 24 Hour Party People (Eaton 2001) depicts the era in which pop was exploding in Europe and the rave scene was beginning to come up. The time and life styles of the people involved with the scene were similar in a few ways. The music involved was a new style and many artists were taking advantage of the situation. Like the hip hop of today or the rock scene of the sixties, there were many young people who were making lots of money and enjoying what they liked to do living the high life. The nature of the scene and the size combined to fuel one big party. Like Icarus, many of the people who reaped the benefits of the industry flew too high and met similar ends.
The characters of the movie all live extravagant lifestyles. The drugs and partying that is offered to them on an everyday basis controls their lives and the others around them.
