The world of Fahrenheit 451 controlled by a totalitarian government who maximise their use of power by attempting to control lives. Their purpose is to prevent people from thinking and therefore allowing them to become similar. If people do not spend time thinking they will not have their own opinions, which would prevent disputes between them. The aim of the government is to stop people from having their own opinion and individuality. "We must all be alike" (Beatty).
The people in this unprincipled society have a hectic lifestyle and relaxation recedes in the background. Socialising between people is devoid of warmth and occurs through 'Parlous Walls' which are television screens on the walls of a house, where the viewer can interact with others and participate in the show by reading the script. The script is a method in which the government uses to control the people. This prevents the viewer from saying their own thoughts and opinions as what they need to say is given on a script, thus the viewer does not think for themselves. The Parlour TV prevents people from having individual thoughts and therefore making everyone alike...
