Over Easter break, I had the privilege of investing into a young girl's life, which is a memory that I know I will never forget. My dad was explaining a situation to me about a friend that he worked with and just kept telling me to keep the family in my prayers. The parents were going through a divorce because the mother was throwing all their money away on drugs. The two children were having a difficult time both understanding and dealing with the whole situation. So on Good Friday, I decided that the little girl I had heard so much about needed a blessing just as I did.
As I pulled into the driveway of their house, my heart was crushed. It was a tiny, run-down house in which the parents and the children shared one room. It was cluttered and dirty, but I could tell that the dad was really trying hard. I saw a verse on the wall saying, " In Christ I can do all things," and it gave me hope that this family would make it. I met this precious eight year old girl named Kyle and asked her if it would be okay if we went shopping for the afternoon...
