There is much debate over whether we benefit more from similar views than
contradictory ones. Some people maintain that we can learn much more from
people whose views we share, while some others hold a opposite position.
Unfortunately, however, both of
them over-emphasize one side and ignore the other side which is also
indispensable to obtain knowledge. In a knowledge-booming society, both ways
are the same important and overlook either side will lead mistake.
From people whose views share ours, we can gain much to complement our own
knowledge. Without communicating with other people who have the same opinion
of us, we will find ourselves isolated in a separated island and be
constrained in a small space
where knowledge is limited, not knowing where we should go. We can easily
find such cases if we would look back to history. Without the development of
biology, can we expect the emergence of new medicine to cure human gene
diseases? Without the
development of physiology of biology, can we make boom the electricity? Of
course not...
