The suppermarket strike is a decision by the union employees to withhold their labor until their demands are met. Recently, the number of workers who lost their jobs is noticeably on the increase. I have seen workers protesting day after day, but nothing gets done. The primary reason for the strike is to keep the health and welfare benefits. Twenty five years ago there was a supermarket strike that lasted for a week. Today we have the same situation except it has been going on for over 5 months. On Sept. 7, 2003 the strike began because the corporations cut down worker benefits to be competitive with the Wal-mart company. Our system needs to take this seriously and find a way to come up with a solution.. If i could change one thing in this world, it would be to give the workers back their jobs by changing the health benefits, limiting the number of Wal-mart stores, and unionizing all the stores together..
