Robinson Crusoe Daniel Defoe 1719
I have read this classic book written by Daniel Defoe in 1719. The story takes place in the 17th century. Robinson Crusoe's father always wanted him to follow his footsteps and be a lawyer like himself. However Robinson has always wanted to become a seaman.
One day when he is walking around the harbour Robinson suddenly hear his friend shouting to him from a docked ship, "Come join us on our expedition!" Robinson hesitates a bit, thinking about his father's council, but the temptation gets to big and he decides to join the expedition.
After several trips over the sea and after escaping from pirates Robinson ends up in Brazil. Robinson stays in Brazil for about four years, but the he decides to go to Guinea to buy negroes. (This clearly shows the different views of humans during the 18th century)
But on this trip they run into a great storm and the ship gets gravely damaged. They try to save themselves by getting to Barbados, but when they run into yet another storm, the crew have to abandon the ship...
