This essay will touch on the importance of Native American Literature, in the Colonial periods, and how they apply in today's society. The importance in the study of Native American Literature is quite necessary to History. The works of Bradford, Bradstreet and Taylor were used to describe society and political atmosphere during Colonial America. Whereas, in today's society America utilizes newspapers, TV's and film to capture historical events and record history for future generations to come.
Throughout history the Native American has been perceived as a "savage" race by white authors, in Colonial America. For instance, Native Americans are no longer thought of as "savages". During colonial America not only were Indians described as "Blood thirsty savages", they were decimated by disease, brought over from the puritans. In today's society this is unheard of.
Bradford is synonymous with Native Americans because Native Americans were often the main subjects of his writings. As a result of Bradford's writings, his relationship with Native Americans flourished during early colonial times...
