The film “A Beautiful Mind” starring Russell Crowe is the true story about a mathematics professor at Princeton University, named Dr. John Nash. The movie was very well done and had an excellent story to it, and shows that despite suffering from schizophrenia someone can accomplish great things, if that person has the will to do so. Judging by the movie, it can be deduced that Nash is a paranoid schizophrenic, the type that hears voices and sees people that aren’t there. The people that he sees throughout the film, deeply influence his life. For example, the film starts when Nash is moving into his apartment at Princeton University as a young student, and meets his roommate, Charles (played by Paul Bettany) for the first time, even though he is not real he considers him to be a good friend. Throughout the film Nash is convinced of his friend’s existence, never doubting the fact that he really exists, only when he realizes that he is schizophrenic he comprehends that Charles is not real, ultimately leading him to leading a normal life, in which he chooses to ignore the various imaginary people he sees.
