Steve Ducey, the author of the essay Personal Responsibility, not sense of humor, shows responsibility, believes maturity does not exist or if it exists is very limited, in today's society. He believes one can have fun and participate in idiotic performances, if he or she takes responsibility for their own actions and at the same time have respect for others. Ducey's claim, the lack of maturity, is inferred in his essay. The claim is not directly stated in one sentence, but can be understood during the reading of the essay. The type of claim that is predominating is one of definition. Ducey states, "the definition of maturity is often subject to debate" (2002). Obviously, everyone has differing definitions of maturity. These different definitions are evident in his or her actions and attitude. Ducey defines maturity as "the ability to take responsibility for your actions and treat other people with respect" (2002). Most people would agree with this definition; however, people do not always show maturity in their lives...
