Gay and Lesbian Society
My personal reactions to Marriages between persons with a Homosexual Orientation are mostly all positive, and I'm usually for equal rights and opportunities for household's made up of gay and lesbian couples. Some say that nearly three out of four people oppose gay marriages and gay relationships themselves. There are many misunderstandings that go along with gay marriages and even what homosexuality really is. There is an assumption that gay people enjoy the same civil rights protections as everyone else. There are also a lot of stereotypes about gay relationships, and even a great deal of misunderstanding of what marriage itself is all about.
Some stereotypes have it that gays are promiscuous, unable to form lasting relationships, and the relationships that do form are shallow and uncommitted. From what I learned from being in your class and speaking with Mr. Leiner while you were gone, this sounds extremely credible but not true in all cases. The values that such gay couples demonstrate in their daily lives are often impossible to differentiate from those of their straight couples. From what I captured in the Castro video in San Francisco, they're loyal to their partners; most of them are devoted to what they've started with their mates...
