Dickinson along with her other two siblings - oldest Austin and youngest Lavinia - spent most of their younger years in this home. Even though Dickinson had a strong secondary education - having attended Amherst Academy, and Hadley Female Seminary (known now as Mount Holyoke College) for a year - Dickinson found herself returning to her childhood home and remained there for the rest of her life.
