The Death Penalty
The death penalty article states why capital punishment should be abolished. Poverty, race, and geography have an influence on who gets executed. The death penalty has not proven to prevent or stop murders and is a barbaric practice. It's an unjustified and irreversible means of vengeance. For these reasons, the death penalty does no justice for society. I believe the death penalty should be abolished because it is unfair, it does not lower crime rates, and it doesn't deliver justice.
If the death penalty is going to continue, then it should be done in a fair and rational way. The death penalty, as of now, is not fair because it targets particular groups, such as those in poverty. The poor cannot hire their own lawyers so they are represented by court appointed lawyers. The lawyers appointed to the poor are inexperienced and underpaid...
