from immediate terrorist threats, the supposed purpose of the act. Many
provisions of the Patriot Act present not connection to preventing terrorism.
Lack of focus on terrorism is a big problem in an act dedicated to fighting

of the DNA samples of terrorists, but also adds a broad category of "any crime
of violence" which encompasses a wide range of non-terrorists. The Computer
Fraud and Abuse Act allows for wiretaps to be place on any person suspected of
"exceeding the authority" of a computer, which can be interpreted in many

The USA Patriot Act not only violates the rights of the American citizens, but
also those of immigrants. ... This means that technically an
immigrant who uses a weapon in an act of violence against a civilian can be
removed from the country on the grounds of being categorized as a terrorist.
Obviously, every immigrant who uses a weapon in an act of violence is not going
to be ejected from the country, however, this does create a huge gray area in
the justice system left wide open for interpretation and can be abused easily
