Although melanoma is quite old, it is still crucial. Surprisingly, since 1995, about 1800 New Zealanders develop the disease every year while 200 die from it. Melanoma is common in New Zealand, and although many think it is fatal, it can be diagnosed, treated and prevented. Many educational programmes are set to help people prevent melanoma. But are people paying enough attention to melanoma?
What is Melanoma and what are its causes?
Melanoma is a dangerous skin cancer. It is called melanoma because it begins in melanocytes in the epidermis. Studies showed that it often affects people in the under 40-age group.
