Is there a philosophy of life in The facts of life?
The facts of life is the story of a man that he is very proud of his only son, that is not only good-looking and clever, but also gifted at tennis. When one proposes him that his son could go and play at Monte Carlo, his first reaction is to refuse. However, his wife manages to talk him into accepting. Before his son's leaving, he recommends him three things not to do: not to gamble, not to lend money to anybody and not to be involved with any woman. Until the last night in Monte Carlo, the young man respects his father's advice. The night before going back to England, he gambles and wins, he lends money to a young woman and has his money given back and he sleeps with the woman and manages to prevent her from taking the money he has won. Finally, the young man that disobeys to his father is successful in everything he does. Thus, what can be the philosophy that the author has decided to illustrate in this story?
