Japanese Occupation of Korea
From 1910 until 1945, the Japanese have had imperial control over Korea. Japan and the other western powers have had their eye on Korea for sometime and the signing of the treaty of Japan was might have caused the annexation of Korea. Once Japan took control over Korea, cultural views were being spread throughout Korea. Japan also took away Korea’s right of self-determination and also made sure Korea had no economic say in their country. Japan was slowly taking away Korea’s culture and making them more Japanese. It wasn’t until the end up World War II that Japan finally lost control over Korea.2
Some might say that the annexation of Korea might have started with the signing of the Treaty of Japan. The treaty stated that Japan should control external affairs of Korea. This was the first step to Korea’s annexation by giving Japan a little bit of power over their country.
