Semiotics and textual analysis

Fidel Castro Ruz was born on August 13, 1926 on his family’s sugar and cattle plantation near Biran, Oriente Province in Cuba. His father, Angel, an immigrant from Galicia in Spain, fought for Spain against Jose Marti's Cuban independence army in the 1890s. When the war was over, Angel went to Oriente Province and worked for the United Fruit Company of Boston but just before Fidel was born, he became the owner of a 23,000-acre plantation. (8,6, and first Lexis e-mail, 4th lexis mail) Fidel’s mother Lina was a deeply religious woman from to Cuba's old-established landowning elite.
