What is God? ...
Haught suggests that God is a mystery. When looking at beauty, God is inspirational and opens the door to God’s reflection. Along with Haught I believe that if one experiences the totality of all individual beauties one will have a deeper perception of God. ... You are in God’s home. It’s a feeling that you can’t explain but you know that God exists, because if he didn’t the Cathedral wouldn’t be as beautiful without this idea that you are in a place of worship. To fully sense this kind of experience you need to, as Haught would say, allow yourself to be “carried away” by the aesthetic phenomenon (Haught, 69) This is why I believe that people who have a strong belief in God and their faith can sense this experience of God’s beauty, because it strengthens their beliefs and gives them proof of God’s existence.
