ANIMATION IS ART EVEN THOUGH YOU DON'T FIND IT IN ART TEXTBOOKS
Animation has been around since the 1900's and has had quite an impact over the years. Animation has been the revolutionary new way of art-making. It was a time of introducing a new dimension of expression. Animation has come to be thought of widely in America as a lesser art form though because people say it is only used for entertainment. Animation has been undermined as a full potential art medium.
The first filmed animations were made shortly after the turn of the 20th century. Optical toys were used, such as the Zoetrope, to make animation. The first documented animations on film were, Humorous Phases of Funny Faces, which was made in 1906 by Stuart Blackton and Drame chez les Fantoches in 1907 into 1908 by Emile Cohl. Animation was already a unique artform in its infancy. The Walt Disney Studio's Steamboat Willie which was made in 1928, was widely considered the first animation with sound, although it was very likely that another animators work came before that with sound...
