Today I attended an IEP meeting where we discussed Madeline's educational needs. Madeline currently is doing well in the special education classroom. It was discussed how they are thinking about mainstreaming her into a regular classroom. Her language comes out as if she had memorized what she is going to say. She talks flat and seems to have strange language. Madeline's strengths are in the area of single word vocabulary. She also does very well in auditory processing for sounds and visual-motor performance. Her weaknesses are in language comprehension, math and in reading. Her vocabulary skills to interact with other children are also extremely low. She seems to not have many friends and the friends she does have are younger than her and are also in the special education classroom...
