Flames
I was sitting in the forest next to my home, listening to the birds chirp to one another merrily. I watched the squirrels jump from branch to branch in search of their forage for food. Sitting there serenely, I was totally at peace. This I would do often, for I loved the quiet of the woods where I could sit there for hours at a time. Not disturbed by the goings-on of everyday life. When I thought that I could not be aroused from my contentment, the animals that inhabited the area fled and it felt as though night had suddenly washed over my surroundings. Afterward, I saw trees burning, shriveling from the flames that engulfed them, that is when I suddenly heard earsplitting screams. What I was hearing was coming from the trees that were ablaze. The screams, that were now deafening, were the trees crying out in pain from the flames licking at their limbs, burning them alive I awoke, drenched in sweat, breathing heavily. I looked around, it was night and I was in the bed in my room...
