Miscommunication is the root of all problems, and clear and thorough communication is the key to solve all trials and tribulations. Waco is a perfect example of miscommunication. The entire case study proves that detailed communication is necessary to carry out a systematic routine to save people. Communication is vital to all aspects in life. If people do not get their point across, it will be pointless to articulate their purpose. There were many mistakes and tragedies that could have been avoided in the Waco disaster simply by communicating more thoroughly. However, people crack under pressure and they tend to group think and act on instincts rather than rationality of the "what ifs" and out weighing the pros and cons.
On February 28, 1993, in Waco, Texas, ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms) agents made an attempt to serve a search warrant on Mount Carmel. ATF's target was a religious sect, the Branch Davidians, and they also had an arrest warrant on the sect's leader, Vernon Wayne Howell.
