22 1897 Died Gallipoli 1915
Archy Hamilton was from an old West Australian outback cattle station. He was a valiant soldier in the Tenth Light Horse Brigade that fought in the trenches at Gallipoli, Turkey. Archy was involved in making a charge at the Nek and distracting the enemy away from Suvla Beach. The British were landing at Suvla Beach and the Australians Job was to attract as many of the enemy away as possible. The attack at the Nek was disastrous not one of the Aussie soldiers made it to the Turk's trenches. His demise came about in the last charge at the Nek at Gallipoli.
He was hit by a machine gun fire as a made a mad dash at the Turkish trenches. The friend of the family Frank Dunne brought his remains home last week. He was buried at the family station a day later...
