The purpose of this paper is to provide an analysis of the personal and professional life of John (Jack) Welch, Jr. Jack Welch has a rich biography, both in terms of his personality as well as his relatively rapid rise to success. Jack Welch is one of America’s best-known and most respected corporate heads. ... In the 1980s, Welch’s technique for restructuring earned him a reputation as ruthless, but in the 1990s era of downsizing, many of the corporations followed his lead (Slater, 2004). With goal setting, empowerment, and communication, Welch transformed GE into an energized company ready to face world competition.
