Homophobia is existent purely because it has not yet become an accepted norm by society. I believe that two hundred years in the future, homophobia will not exist. This is because I believe people have a need to hate. Humans naturally want to identify a weaker minority in order to feel superior. Over the past fifty years, African-Americans were minorities in North America. Although racism is not even close to being left behind, it surely has come a long way from what it was. In the same aspect that as more African-Americans stood up for themselves, if more homosexuals became open about their sexuality to the public, society would eventually learn to accept them. T.V. shows such that portray homosexual men such as "Will and Grace" and openly homosexual celebrities such as Rosie O'Donnell and Nathan Lane, help to bring society into acceptance...
