1) The New York journalist Alma and Joseph Page, a historian, present Eva Peron as a contentious and notorious character during the 20th century. Both authors attempt to discern between rumors and historical facts that point to Eva Peron. Eva Maria Ibarguren was born on May 7th, 1919 in Argentina. She was the daughter of a rancher named Juan Duarte and one of his employees: Juana Ibarguen. As she was an illegitimate daughter, Eva had to endure social ostracism during all her life. Evita sought her fortune in Buenos Aires as she became a radio actress. The first rumor that was brought up was that Evita worked as a prostitute to support herself, even Jorge Luis Borges followed the myth of "Evita the Whore"(5).Joseph Page illustrates Evita as a talented woman, who improved her acting career by her own merits, and claims that rumors such as the "meretricious relationships with men who advanced her career"(6) are invalid. As the Argentine military overthrew the government, and Army officers assumed power, Evita met Juan Peron. This was Evita's turning point in her life, Evita attained political popularity...
