Good afternoon,
Today is a very special day for the college, as well as our graduates. It gives me great pleasure to be here with you for (X) Commencement Ceremony.
Graduates, today is a celebration - you've come a long way to get here to receive your certificate or diploma. This is not a prize or award. It is proof of your accomplishments. Congratulations.
We should also extend a thank you to the others who supported you in reaching this goal. Whether it was a family member, a teacher, or a close friend, those people helped keep you on track. They too, deserve praise.
You are undoubtedly filled with much emotion this afternoon...
