The fact that Codi has the ability to go back to Grace after she left, demonstrates the fact that she has grown as a person. She did not want to go back in the first place, and at the time she was forced to go due to her fathers failing health. After she leaves Grace, she finds out that it is best for her to go back. She has creates a life for her there. In Grace there are people who care for her and have impacted her life there. Loyd is a person that had a major impact on Codi during her time in Grace. He showed her that people care about her and that she can create a life in Grace. The fact that at the end of the novel she turns around and heads back to the place that she once dreaded going demonstrates the fact that she has changed during the novel.
I completely agree with what Kingsolver claims in the novel. I think that since Codi established good connections with the people in Grace, she changed in maturity during the novel...
