She Never Knew

Emily was four years old when her parents separated, although she was very young she still knew what was going on around her. Emily cried and pleaded that her father stayed, her mother dragged her back and told her father to leave, Emily got one last hug from her dad and then he left. Emily was confused she did not know why this was happening she always blamed her mother, all she knew was that her dad was kind, gentle and funny she knew he loved her.
As time passed Emily and her fathers relationship grew further and further apart and she saw less and less of her dad. At one stage he would come and see her every second day, then maybe one day a week and spend the weekend with him then after while she'd be lucky to see him once a week. After two weeks passed Emily's father came to visit, she was so excited but when he arrived and picked her up she noticed something strange about him. They went to a park it was a very sunny day there were lots of children around but her father's weird behaviour continued. He was very jumpy almost as if something was out to get him, when he would talk to her he would stutter and forget what he was saying then start all over again as if he didn't know he had already said it. Emily became very upset when one little girl pointed out how weird her dad was. As weeks passed Emily noticed her dads behaviour did not change he was still jumpy it seemed to be getting worse, Emily went home and told her mummy about her dads weird behaviour and not long after the visiting stopped...
