Yellow Wallpaper
Three different lessons that men can learn as a result of reading Charlotte Gilman's, "The Yellow Wallpaper," are to give more freedom and not to be so controlling towards women. To give respect to women if you want there to be true respect back, not obligation or feared respect. Men can learn greatly from this work that women are, and deserve to be treated equally! These lessons promote favorable outcomes for couples on many levels such as making them more profound socially and ethically.
Men often times need a lesson in how to intrigue women and to make them be more "into them." This comes from a lack of freedom and space from men causing women to bottle things up or push them away. Like in "The Yellow Wallpaper," John never let her do any work giving her no sense of self worth or control of her everyday events. Therefore, she bottled up her true feeling and let things in her mind drive her crazy. This is the extreme of controlling, but it can be evident in many smaller cases also. To grow together as a couple each person needs to have space and control to make their own social choices...
