Same Gender Parenting in American Society
Pessimism and Optimism are two words that tend to have strong ties to the word homosexuality. Homosexuality, a word that sparks controversy in any discussion among two or more people is thought of as a disgrace to American Society. Consequently, society thinks that same gender parenting is immoral and disgraceful. Could it be that homosexual couples are just as capable of caring for a child the same as a heterosexual couple.
Traditionally, the term "family" means two or more people living together who are related by blood, marriage, or adoption. This concept of "family" is slowly changing as we learn more about homosexuality and the people who practice it. In American Culture we have what is know as the "alternative family" a structure which is gaining and has gained more attention over time. This family structure includes one or both parents who are gay or lesbian. The development of these families range from gay men or lesbians bringing children from previous heterosexual relationships or through adoption and surrogate motherhood.
Being a parent is tough, and it's harder if you and your child are scorned by some of mainstream society...
