Macbeth
Someone once said, "Evil often conquer, but never triumphs." This quote says that evil can win but it will not last forever. This quote is seen to be true in the play, Macbeth, by William Shakespeare. Through the themes, betrayal, greed and power, visions and guilt we see how good will always conquer evil. These themes are revealed through quotes in the play.
A large theme in the play is darkness. It is portrayed by the witches prophecies and the betrayal of characters towards Macbeth towards other characters. A quote that shows this is said by Macbeth in Act I and scene 3, "I am Thane of Cawdor: if good, why do I yield to that suggestion whose horrid image doth unfix my hair and make my seated heart knock at my ribs against the use of nature? Present fears are less than horrible imaginings; shakes so my single state of man that function is smothered in surmise, nothing is but what is not."
