The Modern Alien: A Brief History
H.G. Wells's classic novel The War of the Worlds and Walt Disney's hit film Lilo & Stitch has very little in common. However, their dissimilarity allows modern critics to see the change in the popular perception of aliens. Since The War of the Worlds was published in 1898, there have been many advances in the field of science, especially concerning space travel and knowledge of distant planets. These discoveries have changed the way that societies (and science fiction authors) view alien life.
The stories The War of the Worlds and Lilo & Stitch have two completely different depictions of what aliens look like. The aliens in The War of the Worlds are large, greyish creatures with tentacles.
