Slavery: Good or Bad?
As an abolitionist, I think slavery is the most ridiculous, offensive and degrading act possible that our country has to go through. It should be abolished because it is immoral, it violates the Constitution and is frowned upon by the bible.
The idea of men owning men is just preposterous and mind-boggling. How could someone own another person and say that they are a piece of property? Every person has the same rights as someone else, so how does slavery even exist when everyone's rights are protected by God, the Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution?
It is stated in the Declaration of Independence "That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by the Creator with certain unalienable rights . . . " Not to mention that human liberty and equality are spoken of in the preamble of the Constitution...
