In this argument, the arguer claims that Monarch Books should open a caf in its store to attract more customers and better compete with Regal Books. To support the conclusion, the arguer points out that Regal Books recently opened a caf. Further more, the arguer cites that he last national census indicated a significant decline in the percent of the population who are under age ten, so the children's book section could be renowned as a caf. There are many critical fallacies.
Firstly, the argument depends on the assumption, unwarranted, that Monarch Books are the same as Regal Books. Despite the same location, the argument does not provide other important factors, for instance the scope of the two book stores is unknown, which is essential to determine the competence of the store. Moreover, without specific information about the book store, we could not conclude that Monarch Books ` opening a caf in its store could attract more customers, which would be better compete with Regal Books.
Secondly, it is possible that Regal Books may not get any financial benefits from the caf. There are too many cafs around us, so the cafs experience more intense competition and it is not easy to gain profit. Furthermore, although it is true that a caf need a relative small space, there must be additional place to store coffee powder and other necessary raw materials and place for customers to eat or drink...
