Life for a Jew in a Concentration Camp
As much as we all complain about how hard our lives our, I don't think any of our experiences could be compared with those of the Jews during the Holocaust. They suffered incredible tortures and their only way out was either death or escape. Until then their lives were described as miserable, unbearable, and just down right tragic.
It was not until after the Kristallnacht, that 30,000 Jews were deported to concentration camps such as Dachau, Belsen, and Auschwitz. Life was horrible for people sent to the concentration camps. Upon arrival the people were stripped of their belongings, disinfected, given a shower and given a striped prison uniform.
A regular day at a prison camp would usually consist of being awakened at five or five thirty in the morning. They slept in beds that were about 3 feet long in height and width with straw as there mattress. They were told to get out of the barracks as fast as they could. They would have to line up in silence...
