Racism and Apartheid
The issue of racism is a tender one for many people, but thankfully in our society racism is slowly being driven out. It is now deemed unacceptable and 'un-cool' to be racist, apart from in small minorities of people.
Apartheid, the separation of two or more different races, is something I am strongly opposed to, unless there are violent, confrontations taking place between the two groups. If for instance, black and white people are not given the chance to work beside each other, mingle and get to know each other, then race issues that may exist between them will never be resolved.
From the opening of "Dangerous Minds", what expectations does the viewer have for the rest of the film?
Introduction
During this piece of coursework, I will be analysing the film "Dangerous Minds" and trying to answer the above question. I will be taking into consideration the effect of music, light, camera views, and various other techniques that the director has used in order to build up the expectations of the audience. The main focus of this essay will be on the first 15-20 minutes of the film, as this is where the audience will get their first impressions and begin predicting and expecting things from the latter stages of the film.
