Review of Techniques used in a story

Taking a creature's life, whether man or animal, some see as murder. This piece of literature brings up a controversial arguement. Is taking an innocent animals life murder? Or is it right to kill a creature when it might harm someone? This story shows the different sides of this arguement and a man having a conflict with himself about which is the right thing to do. To help with the effectiveness of this arguement the author uses some important writing techniques to powerfully convey his theme. A few of the techniques used are organization, point of view, language, and selection of detail. All of these used the right way make a great story and have a strong effect on the reader.
The author uses amazing diction throughout the story. As the narrator describes the snake as he "lay rigid" the reader pictures a motionless, but dangerous creature...
