"The death penalty is no more the answer to crime than abortion is the answer for unplanned pregnancies. Death is never the answer." Statement by the Catholic Bishops of New York State, 1994. Punishment is supposed to be for the protection of society, and for the reformation of the wrongdoer. It maintains to protect society by preventing the same criminals from repeating their crimes, and by acting as prevention to other prospective criminals. Capital punishment is a failure in these respects. As prevention to other murderers, the death penalty has proved a signal failure, as comparing the criminal statistics of those countries where the death penalty has been abolished.
Capital punishment does play a great role of irony. Whereas, a convicted person was charge for murdering, which then lead him sentence to death. What made the Capital have the right to take one else's life based on hypothesis reasoning?..
