A struggle Within the characters
Within the three novels called Angelas Ashes by Frank McCourt, The Poisonwood Bible by Barbara Kingsolver and Kaffir Boy by Mark Mathabane, Each of the novels include a character inside who is dealing with a inner conflict. The inner conflicts in each of these takes the from in which the characters strong beliefs and stubbornness lead them to becoming their own antagonists.
Unfortunately, in Angelas Ashes, the character who is dealing with the inner struggle is the provider for the family. His inner struggle leads the family into Poverty. Malachy McCourt Sr. who is the father of the main character Frankie and four other children, is barely working. When he does earn his weekly earnings he waists it on alcohol and leaves his children and wife with a lack of food, clothing, shelter and healthcare. His inner struggle derives from him not being able to provide for his family and his lost of three of his children from sickness.
Unplanned, after their baby girl dies from tuberculosis, Malachy Sr. and Angela moved from America back to Ireland ...
