The electronic commerce is the way to achieve these changes and to bear them on a global scope. The e-Commerce allows the companies to be more efficient and more flexible in its internal operations. Moreover, through e-commerce businesses are able to work more narrowly with its suppliers as well as to give a better answer to the needs and expectations of their clients. Companies can use e-Commerce to sell in a global market and to select better suppliers without keeping in mind their geographical location.
The electronic commerce can be understood as a concept of business or a new way to undertake the commercial relations between businesses. The European Union web site provides this definition of e-Commerce (Espirit, 1997):
Electronic Commerce is a general concept covering any form of business transactions or information exchange executed using information and communication technology, between companies, between companies and their customers, or between companies and public administrations.
The e-commerce uses the computing and the telecommunications in order to channel the flows of information and existing commercial transactions between a company and its clients, suppliers, banks, transport, etc. Therefore, e-Commerce is supported on a technological base to carry out its task and this technological base is the Internet. The characteristics of the Internet and its associated technologies have caused the quick expansion of e-Commerce.
