In life, there's a time in which all human beings begin to 'come of age' whether it's a specific event or a series of events. A child can grow into an adult through experiences that are both exciting and dramatic. In the story, To Kill a Mockingbird, Jem goes through various human emotions. His feelings towards three people; Boo, Mrs. Dubose and Tom Robinson have, in a way, helped him to grow into a young man.
For myself, I have also had a few incidents that helped my 'coming of age'. All three happenings occurred in the past year and it's when I finally opened up my eyes to realize what's going on around me. The first incident was when I found out my father was going to be having a liver transplant. Next was when my brother (Matt) got into a car accident. The most recent experience was when I read a poem that I had written in sixth grade...
