Sex Education Helpful or Hurtful

"The only way to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases is through abstinence." These words were spoken by my sophomore year Quest teacher at my past high school. Sex education most definitely should be part of the high school student curriculum. The first sex education class I had ever attended was at the age of 10, near the completion of my 4th grade year. Topics of puberty and such were discussed. Although most topics of the discussion were unfamiliar to me at the time, graduating into middle school summed up all the confusion. Throughout middle school, kids learn more and more about sex through their peers more than any other source. Near graduation of 8th grade, the class as a whole was required to take a one time sex education class. This class focused on sexually transmitted diseases, and pregnancy. Finally, my sophomore year in high school the whole grade was required to take a health class, wherein the sexual education would be instructed...
