W.E.B. Du Bois: Ideology on the Race Concept 1868-1894
William Edward Burghardt Du Bois was born on February 23, 1868 in Great Barrignton, Massachusetts. Du Bois was from a mixed heritage. His mother was African and Dutch and his father was African and French. Du Bois described himself as having a "flood of Negro blood, a strain of French, a bit of Dutch, but thank God! no Anglo-Saxon," (Sandquist, 8).
