In Memoirs of a Geisha, you experience true confessions of one of Japan's most celebrated geishas. The story takes us to intense levels of jealousy and envy. Chiyo-Chan was a young girl taken from her home to live in Okiya (geisha house). While standing in the entrance way she sees a very beautiful geisha. Hatasumono-San tried to stay as far as she could from Chiya-Chan. She thought that Chiyo-Chan smelt of fish. The rage between these two geishas began when Hatasumono-San first set eyes on her. Hatasumono-San was intensely jealous of Chiyo-Chan's beauty even at the tender age of nine.
Chiyo-Chan saw a girl her age carrying two buckets of water. Her body was narrow, but her face was plump and almost perfectly round so that she looked like a melon on stick...
